Last autumn, mainly out of boredom and curiosity, I kept a daily scent log. For 38 days, I tracked my fragrance-wearing habits and here's what I wore:

- 12-25 Crabtree & Evelyn, Iris
- 12-26 Rochas, Eau de Rochas Homme
- 12-27 Comme des Garcons, 8 88
The only thing I seem to have used twice was Jessica McClintock's Jess, a musky, woody floral that somehow feels more like a bath soap or shampoo aroma than a perfume and that I find myself repeatedly coming back to as a comfort scent on chilly nights.
Of all the fragrances listed, there are a few I can call "staples" in the collection:
- Eau de Rochas Homme is a typical after-shaving ritual, mostly because I am addicted to the aftershave balm.
- Clean Ultimate is a dead ringer for Gendarme and packs a longlasting wollop of floral white musk.
- Annick Goutal's Duel is near and dear to my heart, a captivating blend of tea and leather notes and a scent I reach for as a default (as in, "I have no idea WHAT I want to wear today).
- Joop! Le Bain, how I love thee…vanilla and tobacco notes never smelled so good…like rising out of a steaming, scented bathtub…an old friend that I first discovered while in college in the early '90s.
- And my dear Versace Blue Jeans…as timeless and comforting today as it was 15 years ago when I first wore it.
- I also count on my Bvlgari Omnia and Givenchy Insense Ultramarine Wild Surf, the former a warm, subtle tea and chocolate duo and the latter a surprisingly addictive flanker for Givenchy's Asian market.
Of course there are others I love as much as these, but as a snapshot of my fragrance-wearing habits, this clearly establishes two things: 1) I like variety and 2) I'll try just about anything!
I love lists. And own a bottle of Joop! Le Bain because of your review… not that I like sweeties much though.
